It is perhaps fitting that when later today Mary Kelly receives the Michael Flannery Memorial Award in Queens, New York, she will be in jail. Her real, symbolic act in taking a hatchet to the U.S. war machine puts her in good company. As the Anglo-American Imperium embarks on their mad mission to control the world Mary's gallant action links the oldest anti-imperialist struggle of all, that of Ireland's people, with the developing struggle against imperialisms current manifestation led by Bush and his English poodle, Blair. Michael Flannery took up arms against British imperialism in his native county Tipperary and when exiled continued the struggle. There are those who will try to coast on Mary Kelly's bravery and sacrifice, but still the truth is clear: a felons cap is the noblest crown an Irish head can wear. read full story / add a comment

Subject: U.S. Supreme Court Justice Jackson on crime of aggressive war. Subject: NAZIS WERE HANGED FOR 'PRE-EMPTIVE WAR' "We must make clear to the Germans that the wrong for which their fallen leaders are on trial is not that they lost the war, but that they started it. And we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into a trial of the causes of the war, for our position is that no grievances or policies will justify resort to aggressive war. It is utterly renounced and condemned as an instrument of policy." --Supreme Court Justice Robert L. Jackson, Chief U.S. Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Tribunal, August 12, 1945. read full story / add a comment

As the political finger wagging and mutterings of disapproval continue the grip we have on our current power to make a difference is quickly fading from our view, being replaced by the dark shadow of the American war machine which - when maximum momentum is reached - will roar blindly through all opposition and hear no one over the sound of their own engines. read full story / add a comment

The Labour Party has stated its opposition to any US led war with Iraq, especially when the UN Inspectors have yet to complete their report and without any resolution from the UN Security Council. In such circumstances Labour views a massive conflict with potentially serious loss of life as unwarranted, unjust, and against the wishes of the vast majority of people in Ireland, Europe and throughout the world. read full story / add a comment
