European gas prices recently went above ?58 per megawatt hour ? the equivalent of $100 per barrel of oil. This is "absolutely destructive for energy-intensive manufacturing", in the words of one industry analyst.

Any electrician knows that Lego bricks are genderless, not 'heteronormative', because each can 'mate' with any other. Perhaps Science Museum staff should study to be electricians and actually make themselves useful.

offsite link Why All Parents Should Protest Against the Children?s Wellbeing and Schools Bill Tue Feb 11, 2025 18:14 | Elizabeth Dulley
Any parent can currently withdraw their child from school if they're unhappy. Labour's Schools Bill ends that right for many, giving local authorities a veto. That's why all parents should protest against this state power grab.

The demonstration will assemble at 7pm in Shannon Town Centre. Protestors will then march to the terminal building at Shannon Airport. On the possibility of the protestors being prevented from entering Shannon, Anti-War Ireland says: “For the guards to prevent a peaceful protest from going ahead would amount to a serious breach of our civil liberties, and would be unacceptable. It would also be ironic, given that Bush expects to be applauded by our government for supposedly restoring democracy and civil liberties to the people of Iraq at the very moment ours are being threatened. At this point in time, we have no reason to believe that the protest will be banned. Anti-War Ireland has written to An Garda Síochana to give notice of a peaceful demonstration, and to indicate the march route. The gardaí have not been in touch with us, so we can only assume that it’s all systems go.” read full story / add a comment

President Bush has been castigated by the media, ostensibly for his war-mongering.
However how much of the hysteria being whipped up by the media, especially by RTE is because he is being so successful at restoring family values to the US and RTE 's agenda is vehemently anti-family. read full story / add a comment

There will be a Walk for Peace and Justice in Skibbereen, Co.Cork, on Saturday, 26th June.
Starting in the Town Square at 2pm, we will walk to the Famine Graveyard at Abbeystrewery (about a mile)
It is an expression of solidarity with all victims of injustice and oppression.
It is a rejection of the violence and brutality in which our government has made us accomplices.
It is a celebration of our belief in human values, in Peace, Justice and Compassion.
Bring flowers, musical instruments, wear fancy dress if you like.
This is a child-friendly event.
