This participatory workshop will focus on using group work to examine business and personal values in relation to major environmental, social and economic issues. Participants will experience the interrelated nature of these issues and the impacts of global trends on personal values. Visioning, leadership and tools for managing change towards sustainable development will also be key aspects of the workshop. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Richard Webb, environmental consultant and trainer, who has worked on these issues with leading companies in Hong Kong and who teaches on the Master's degree course on sustainable development in DIT.

Urban Permaculture
An introduction by Dr. Richard Webb, who lectures on the DIT MSc. course on sustainable development, to the concept of Permaculture with a focus on the urban environment. Permaculture is the use of ecology as the basis for designing integrated systems of food production, housing appropriate technology and community development. It offers a practical, creative approach to the problems of diminishing resources and threatened life support systems now facing the world.

This internationally acclaimed film documents the dramatic events surrounding the failed 2002 coup against the democratically elected President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. The showing will be followed with a question and answer session with Donnacha O’Briain, the film’s co-director (with Kim Bartley).
