The Catholic church has behaved like a cult in keeping women and children as second class human beings who were expected to obey the men of God without question.

The “public service deal” is historic betrayal of public service union members by ICTU and its Public Services Negotiating Committee of general secretaries.The National Public Services Alliance calls on the elected national executives of individual unions to reject these destructive proposals without ballot where rules permit.

Should national executives put these proposals to ballot, the NPSA will campaign vigorously in each union for a “no” vote

The NPSA also calls on all national executive committees of individual unions to keep directives and forms of industrial action in place rejecting the call by Kieran Mulvey to end industrial action.

Yesterday, the Free Gaza Movement, bought a 1,200 tonne cargo ship at an auction in Dundalk, Ireland.

The vessel had been impounded a year ago following an inspection by the International Transport Federation (ITF) which found that its’ owners had exploited it’s Lithuanian crew members - not paying their wages and subjecting them to humiliating treatment. read full story / add a comment

The annual 1916 commemoration, organised by Sinn Féin, will take place in Limerick on Easter Sunday April 4th. The parade will assemble outside the Munster Fair Tavern at 12.00 noon and proceed from there to the Republican Plot, Mount St. Laurence Cemetery.

The main speaker will be Cllr. Maurice Quinlivan.

The Government have negotiated a tentative agreement with the public sector unions. Let us have a look at what the union representatives agreed to:

1. No restoration of pay cuts
2. Longer hours for the same wages
3. 7-day work weeks resulting in no overtime
4. Redeployment of workers at Government's discretion
5. Staff reduction

On Monday 5th April, as part of the CAPS (www.captiveanimals.org) "Zoo Awareness Weekend", we will be having a protest outside Dublin Zoo in Phoenix Park, Dublin 8. This will be instead of the usual Saturday events that weekend.
