The film opens as a platoon of US Special Forces is dropped off by Chinook into the snowbound Tora Bora mountains in a sweep for Taliban and Al-Qaida fighters. Instead they come across the horribly mutilated corpses of the tribesmen and jihadists apparently torn to shreds by some kind of beast. The platoon proceeds to a cave where they discover a vast network of tunnels which house an Al-Qaida HQ but again find evidence of a fierce struggle and blood splattered human remains. A survivor is found but he babbles nothing but verses from the Koran before leaping to his death over percipe. Needless to say the platoon are themselves ripped apart in appallingly graphic attacks by a legion of Yetis. The dying Lieutenant calls in an airstrike and the sole surviving Yeti is captured and taken to Kabul. Roll opening credits. read full story / add a comment

Please read the story below, this is not a normal petition appeal. For a start it has more than a couple of lines of text, it tells a story. The Story of a brave Secular Kurdish author who has written a book which questions the status of women in islam and according to the text of the Quran. the book is entitled “Sex, Sharia and Women in the History of Islam". The Kurdishish Islamofascists are now trying to bring about his death. You can a little thing to save him: read the plea below and sign the petition. This is a petition that WILL go to the Kurdish Government; the Organisation of Women’s Freedom in Iraq will ensure this. pat c read full story / add a comment

Blair’s speech in Oz parliament today was notable for its familiarity – nothing new, same ol’ same ol’ shite. Wait! I think there was something that may have been a Freudian slip in reverse, Blair pleaded with a crumbling support base not to ostracise the yanks as they may “lift their drawbridge” (what a laugh). In order to survive, the voracious beast of Capitalism MUST feed off weaker nations, destroy the environment, wreak havoc and wage war to sustain its (military) economy. The world needs America like it needs a hole in the head; by all means Tony, let the yanks implode on themselves; allow the blood-sucking star-spangled-fangs to sink into its own neck; it would be a most entertaining spectacle. read full story / add a comment

The March For Free Expression took place on Saturday 25 March in Trafalgar Square, London. This is the Statement of Principle of the organidsation: "The strength and survival of free society and the advance of human knowledge depend on the free exchange of ideas. All ideas are capable of giving offence, and some of the most powerful ideas in human history, such as those of Galileo and Darwin, have given profound religious offence in their time. The free exchange of ideas depends on freedom of expression and this includes the right to criticise and mock. We assert and uphold the right of freedom of expression and call on our elected representatives to do the same. We abhor the fact that people throughout the world live under mortal threat simply for expressing ideas and we call on our elected representatives to protect them from attack and not to give comfort to the forces of intolerance that besiege them. " The rally was a success with 600 people attending. These included Muslims, Christians and atheists, Britons, Americans, Danes, Iraqis and Iranians, socialists, liberals conservatives and libertarians. The one thing which united them was support for the principle of Free Speech. The extremists kept away: No BNP and just a few Islamofascists. As the group put it: "It was a victory for tolerance, reason and freedom. If you want to know how badly this hurts the extremists, read some of the comments on this blog. This was just the beginning, but it was a very good beginning. " Theres another extract from the report below and the full story is at the link. **************************************************************************************** read full story / add a comment

Before we jump do we really need to stand back and see exactly what we are doing. We all have our concerns and arguements about public transport but are we really sure that our political leaders are carrying out their objectives in the interest of the Irish people. When one of your parents is gasping on their last breath and cannot recieve or are refused the tretament they need to survive , just think about it, your hard paid taxes built a Luas or a defunct computer voting system or a,or a, or a, and need I go on. If you believe the private sector will solve all your woes then I'm afraid you deserve all you get. read full story / add a comment

Last week in the European Parliament we voted strongly to eliminate Mercury from our food, air, water and soil in as far as we can. Of course deciding to do it and doing it are different things but it is a start and I am hopeful that even if the elimination is not complete, people will at least benefit from a reduction. In California, thermerisol which contains mercury has been removed from pediatric vaccines. As the children who got thermerisol free vaccines are reaching preschool age, the state is reporting the first slowing down of the rate of increase in the numbers of children becoming autistic. read full story / add a comment

This is a setback for the BNP but they havent gone away. They still managed to poll one third of the votes cast. But they were defending a seat that they had won in the previous Council Elections and their inability to retain it against an unpopular Government suggests they may well have peaked in Bradford. I guess I will give two cheers for Labour. pat read full story / add a comment |
