Harold H. Thompson Anarchist Prisoner

Harold H. Thompson is an anarchist prisoner serving life plus sentences in Tennessee, USA after a series of farcical trials.
Harold is well known for his work as a 'jailhouse lawyer' and copes with prison by fighting for his fellow prisoner in the courts for some semblance of real justice.

"I am an anti-authoritarian, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anarchist revolutionary of proud Irish heritage. I am also a vegetarian and strongly support the animal liberation movement. I stand for civil/human rights and will not break, bend nor be intimidated. I stand in solidarity with all people struggling against oppression but most particularly with my brothers and sisters in the anarchist movement".

Socialism as a concept cannot be summed up as easily as its opposite, capitalism. Capitalism is quite simply the pursuit of wealth by many individuals; the strongest will succeed while the weakest fall by the wayside. At present, this is the dominant social, economic and political ideology in global politics. We, of course, recognise that the basing of a society on such a negative human condition as greed is inherently wrong. We look to build a better system, one where all are cherished equally.

The Belfast High court today lifted most of the restrictions on the Raytheon 9. Veteran Civil Rights activist and revolutionary socialist Eamonn McCann told Blackshamrock.org today that he and the other 8 men facing charges relating to the decommissioning of Raytheon's computers are as of today no longer prevented from meeting up with each other, holding meetings in groups of more than 3, or from attending anti-war functions. Normal bail signing restrictions and the restriction of the nine from the Branch Road, where Raytheon has its premises in the Ulster Science and Technology park, are to remain in place. At the initial bail hearing, the judge had hinted that human rights legislation might prevent the High Court from preventing the Nine from exercising their right to freedom of assembly. The main effect of the lifting of these restrictions, said McCann, is that they are now no longer prevented from taking part in the campaign. read full story / add a comment
