Galway City Council last night unanimously passed an anti-war resolution, which was proposed by Alderman Catherine Connolly of Labour. The resolution was raised ‘in solidarity’ with Galway’s twin cities, Seattle and Chicage, both of whose councils have adopted anti-war positions. Alderman Connolly urged her colleagues to show leadership on the issue, “especially when Shannon is in the next county to us”. (The text of the resolution will be posted as a ‘comment’ to this when it becomes available) read full story / add a comment

The gardai, the government and many others are now crying out about the need to tackle crime in Limerick. The truth is there were more Gardai involved in the security operation at Shannon last weekend than are currently involved in the hunt for the abducted Limerick brothers. We know where this government's priorities are Mr. O'Dea. read full story / add a comment

This morning at 9am the archeologists began work on the wall preparing for it's removal from the site. Carrickminders sat along the wall preventing them from numbering the stones or any other preparation, and attempts were halted after about two hours. The archeologists did not want to do this work, to have any part in destroying the castle. read full story / add a comment

They have been blocked and opposed by employers who would rather hire uninsured, underpaid and desperate immigrants. read full story / add a comment
