AIMSI offers support and information to women in their contact with the maternity services, and also assists women in registering complaints. Since October 2008, AIMS Ireland has been corresponding with Prof Brendan Drumm, HSE CEO to highlight the issue of consent-related practices within Irish maternity hospitals. AIMSI has repeatedly called on Prof Drumm and the HSE to review service user consent policy in Irish maternity services and for the creation and implementation of National Guidelines for Clinical Practice in Maternity Care . Capital implies the political state. As capital develops the state is correspondingly developed. There obtains an internal unity between capital and state. Buried within capital is the state –state capital. As capital develops the state issues out of it. The state is a central concept in the political philosophy of Anarchism. Anarchism is often defined as being an anti-state ideology. While this is sometimes a useful way to distinguish anarchists from other state socialists it also leads to a fair bit of confusion. We will look at the source of this confusion with the aim of showing that anarchism is in its essence opposed to rulers and is not a naive or idealistic form of anti-statism. read full story / add a comment

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) will be hosting a press conference at 3pm tomorrow, Monday 7th June, in the Central Hotel with the five Irish prisoners from the MV Rachel Corrie. The Rachel Corrie was hijacked at sea yesterday by Israeli forces, and all her passengers are due to be deported from Israel tomorrow morning, and the Irish deportees are due to arrive in Dublin airport at 11.20am tomorrow morning. There will be a welcoming committee to meet them and press conference to follow at 3pm in The Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Also today, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign issued a statement refuting various Israeli accusations and propaganda talking points that have been circulating over the past two days. read full story / add a comment

SOS (Save our Swimming Pool) is a group of concerned residents who oppose the closure of Swimming Pools, in Dublin. Dublin City Council unveiled plans to close North side Swimming Pool on 1st January 2010 but following local and political pressure the planned closure was deferred until June 2010.
