As part of Heritage Week, The Irish Peatland Conservation Council have organized a week of drain blocking on a recently purchased extension to Lodge Bog, Co. Kildare. The aim of this work is to raise the water table of this formerly drained area of the bog complex to allow for the return of the bog’s natural flora and fauna.

On Thursday 27th August we will be having a "Close Ireland's Fur Farms" protest (instead of Tuesday leafleting sessions), outside the Dept. of Agriculture, as they are responsible for licensing these death camps.

As the first draft of the new Animal Welfare Bill is scheduled to be published in September, which has the potential to ban fur farming, this will be a particularly important event. read full story / add a comment
