Hakan– striking GAMA building worker
Patrick Kawala- Congolese Ireland Partnership
Richard Boyd-Barrett- Socialist Workers Party

The recent protests about deportations and the exploitation of Turkish building workers exposed the depths of the racism and discrimination that asylum seekers and foreign workers often face at the hands of the government and greedy employers.

But they also showed how ‘People Power’ could make a difference in the struggle for justice and equality.

Come along to this meeting and hear first hand accounts of how people are fighting back against racism and exploitation.

Tallon is the final Garda to face charges relating to mayday 2004.
Of the 6+ Garda charged only Garda Paul Daly was found guilty of assault, for which he recieved a 1 month sentence (which is the subject of an appeal)
Tallon was charged with this offence over a year ago but the jury were unable to reach a verdict.

There still are a number of outstanding charges aganist protestors and several civil cases aganist the Garda, sources assure us that the garda will settle the majority of civil claims out of court. read full story / add a comment
