The event, held at Giuseppe Conlon House in Harringay, north London, kicked off at 2pm with information stalls and refreshments, space and time to network with others and music from the Bow Creek Ramblers Old Time String Band. People were also invited to sign a card from the gathering or write an individual letter of solidarity and support to Bradley Manning. A shrine representing Bradley Manning’s cell was also set up in the front porch of the venue, which was previously a Roman Catholic church. Imagine a free Bradley Manning…

Location: Apartheid "Israeli" Embassy, Pembroke Rd, Dublin 4, Ireland

The regular weekly protest of the "israeli" embassy shall go ahead as per usual. The demonstration will start there and after an hour will march to the Italian embassy just around the corner. There we will show solidarity and respect for Vittorio Arrigoni, an Italian activist murdered in Gaza last week.

An important message will also be sent out to our Palestinian brothers and sisters: we are still with you. The murder of Vittorio was carried out by people who cannot be considered as Palestinian; this is not the way of the people or their religion. read full story / add a comment

Fifteen people have been killed in Ahwaz, a city in Iran's Khuzestan province, according to Al Arabiya News Channel. Iranian security forces backed by militias dressed in civilian clothes broke up demonstrations by force.

The group “Youth of April 15” said in its pages on Facebook and Twitter that 15 people from Ahwaz have been killed and dozens have been wounded since demonstrations began last Friday. Friday had been declared as a “Day of Rage” to demand rights for the ethnic Arab majority in Iran’s Khuzestan province. “The humanitarian situation is very bad,” and there were reports of a lack of the food and water, the group said. read full story / add a comment

Yet another split from the British SWP. About 40 have left. But how honest are they in their convictions?

The resignation of Socialist Workers Party central committee member Chris Bambery on April 10 was rapidly followed by the departure of at least 38 comrades in Scotland two days later. These defectors are expected to formally announce their adherence to the Counterfire grouping of John Rees and Lindsey German sooner rather than later
