The Galway Alliance Against War has claimed that attempts are being made by the authorities in Galway to stop an alternative air show being organised for Nimmo’s Pier, Claddagh at 1.30pm this Sunday. The local peace group plans to release 99 red balloons as a symbol of their opposition to what they term the “Salthill War Show”. This evening a member of the Gardaí went to the home of Niall Farrell, a member of GAAW, to inform him that the Superintendent wished to discuss “safety aspects” of the peace invent. read full story / add a comment

“If we can not know whether the courts are applying the law as passed by our legislators without editing or interference from another source our sovereignty is violated and every Act is now questionable as to its veracity. It also raises the huge question as to what subversive group has edited the legislation before it was published by the government stationery office”.

In this instance where it applies to the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1964 it means that Constitutional protections given to parents very likely have been violated by the courts for the past forty years through implementation of incorrect text.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions how we can get an actual copy of the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1964 as actually passed by the Oireachtas and signed by the President from the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, as the enrolled text which are by Constitutional mandate held there are the only “conclusive evidence of the provisions of such law” then please tell us. read full story / add a comment

Next Tuesday 27th June in the year of our Lord 2006, UCD’s esteemed Craic Society will be hosting a fundraiser to help pay the (substantial) fines of our battle-weary believers, victims of a witch-hunt by Der College Authorities in September of last year.

After organising a fun-filled outdoor piss-up on campus, these Soldiers of Craic were victimised and fined by the college authorities, who seem hell-bent on forcing us to drink overpriced warm pints of Fosters for the rest of our lives instead of being at one with nature and Buckfast. Please come and support the struggle against the neo-liberal profit-driven upper echelons of UCD . read full story / add a comment

Sarcasm and RTE

Tonight's RTE Nine O'clock news reported that President Bush wants to close the Guantanamo detention centre. According to an RTE report Bush 'understands' European concerns over the imprisonment of terror suspects in Guantanamo.

Anne Doyle commented that the President had "gone out of his way" to assure EU leaders about treatment in Guantanamo.

RTE correspondent, Sean Whelan, stated that President Bush "would like to close" the facility, to which the correspondent followed with the question, "when would he like to close" the facility?

There seems to be one seemingly obvious question RTE failed to ask. read full story / add a comment

So I read in the Times this column inch about Bertie Ahern meeting a delegation from Iraq in Dublin organised by the IRI, that is all there no other mention of it I can find, ok so diplomatic meetings rarely get much sattention but this is more then that this is 8 MPs from Iraq's newly elected government. Ireland and the UN have brought democracy to Iraq and with all that bads news and 'unwarranted flak' the government has been getting over the Shannon and Bertie doesn' t want to use this opportumity to shout from the rooftops? with those men DEMOCRACY!! not even a photocall, or a told you so! you nitwit.

We the Republican POWs call on all nationalist, Republican people of Ireland and abroad to support us in our upcoming protest for better conditions and the restoration of political status. In 2003 we embarked on a protest for segregation, this battle was won and segregation was introduced in September of that year. At that time the Brits asked for a period of transition and conditions would then improve. These terms were accepted reluctantly by Republicans.
