Sometimes politicians have to lose to win so the other side can show its true colours. Trump is the standout example, says Prof James Allan. Had he won in 2020, we would not have had the blitz of the last four weeks.

dear All.
In preparation for the upcoming G8 protests in Edinburgh, Dublin, and elsewhere, there will be a screening of The Fourth World War: a documentary that "weaves together the images and voices from the front lines of struggles in Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, 'the north' from Seattle to Genova, and the 'war on terror' in New York and Iraq." The film is about one hour long and narrated by Michael Franti of Spearhead. It will be shown at 8.30 pm on Monday 27th June at the Red Parrot, Dorset St. Dublin 1 (on the right just before Binn's Bridge). All are welcome.
Please forward.

Its déją vu all round in Rossport as local residents once again find themselves pitted in opposition to Shell operations in and around the compound, blockading vehicles engaged in work for Shell. Holed up in the back of a van you have an inter-generational mix of people from 13-65, cups of tea are being swilled back with great gasps of”ahhh”, and the ham sandwiches are doing the rounds. The song of the moment, “Going Out The Way You Came In” an oldie from the Irish Country Star Big Tom, is being played on Midwest Radio due to locals requests. read full story / add a comment

Same as last year, Galway Alliance Against War are standing idly by and are NOT going to protest against the inclusion of war planes at the Airshow itself, as such, I strongly urge other anti-war activists with a little more fire in their souls to protest this Sunday.
