Ludicrous assumptions are many but perhaps the most absurd is the assumption that those who steal the greater percentage of available wealth and continue to implement economic strategies designed to enslave are (somehow) safe and secure. Monica Roa from Women's Link Worldwide addressed the Safe and Legal Forum In Dublin last evening, as part of a week of Prochoice events organised by IFPA and safe and Legal. She made Legal History in Columbia by challenging the abortion laws as a human rights issue. The campaign by Women's Link Worldwide was called the Laicia Campaign.

And the talk was very interesting. Monica showed a film of the campaign from start to finish, including the agit-prop, media coverage and the day of the Judgement. The documentary was short and in Spainish with acompanying English Subtitles. read full story / add a comment

Mr. Lonergan,

You became Governor of Mountjoy Prison in the 1983. You replaced Paddy McFadden from Belmullet in Co. Mayo. McFadden according to sources in the Department of Justice was given 6 hours notice that he was going to be replaced by a handpicked person – yourself John. It is alleged you come from Banshee, Co. Tipperary. You are a former bus conductor. You have a passion for hurling and your known to have the odd flutter on ‘Shergar’.

In the last number of years you have become the most high profile Governor – thanks to media and TV appearances.

Last friday's events in Rossport were a clear example of the brutality of the state; non-violent protesters were viciously assaulted with fists, boots and batons.
