He enjoyed a lengthy career in politics.
He served Fianna Fail as a public representative from 1969 when he 10,557 votes and secured a Limerick TD seat.

Part of an ongoing campaign by BLEIC against the Belfast-based weapons manufacturer. Indications are that there will be a considerable change in the make up of the city council in Galway. Outgoing were 5 FF, 4 PD, 4 FG, 2 Lab.

Based on tallies, incoming looks like 3-4 Lab, 2 SF, 1 Green (maybe), 1 Ind, 2 FF, 3 PD, 2-3 FG.
