Yesterday evening 20 Nigerians were picked up for Deportation and others during last week have been in custody in Mount Joy. Many others have to sign on tomorrow at GNIB on Burgh quay. An application will be made to the High Court today for leave to challenge a decision by the Minister for the Environment, Dick Roche, to clear the way for construction of the M3 motorway. A campaigner against the motorway will seek to test the validity of the Minister's directions under the National Monuments Act in relation to 38 archaeological sites. On June 24, Yasser Salihee, an Iraqi special correspondent for the news agency Knight Ridder, was killed by a single bullet to the head as he approached a checkpoint that had been thrown up near his home in western Baghdad by US and Iraqi troops.
