We in Ireland, know the importance of dialogue to conflict resolution. And we don't really need long complex explanations.

The democratically elected and formed tripartite government of Catalonia is under serious attack from Madrid and Europe this morning, the leader of the Republicans has resigned his role as "quasi-minister of foreign affairs". One which was central to the increased role of Catalonia in Europe and it's right to percieved as a nation though one without state. This morning the Irish Citizen EU official Mr Cox refused to meet Josep Carod Rivera, because yesterday the leader of the ERC had a meeting with representatives of ETA. 2003 saw a big upsurge in anarchist activity across the country. A small but growing number of anarchists are building opposition to the status quo based on the politics of freedom and equality. We want, and know it is possible, to create an alternative to the politics of bluff, lies and shady deals. Justice will not fall from the sky- it will have to be fought for here and now. That's why anarchists are involved in a wide range of campaigns and are active in the day-to-day struggles of our communities and in our workplaces. We also know that to build a different society requires imagination and initiative and so we are not content simply to criticise what is- over the past year we showed what can be achieved through grassroots democracy and direct action. read full story / add a comment

Every year on the second weekend of February the leading warmongers meet in Munich: at the former called "Wehrkundetagung", meanwhile renamed "Munich Conference of Security policy" generals and politicians from member states of NATO and other military powers like Russia and China come together to discuss the military aspects of capitalist world division/capitalist globalisation. The host is nobody else than Horst Teltschick, a former foreign policy expert in the government of Helmut Kohl. Today he works for the "Quandt-Stiftung". The Quandts are main shareholders of the transnational group BMW. It's a natural course of action that friends and competitors of the armaments industry are also invited to this illustrious party. read full story / add a comment
