A physics professor at a university in Utah has written a scientific paper that undermines the hypothesis that fires caused the collapse of three buildings in the World Trade Center on 11 September, 2001. He lists many indicators of pre-positioned explosives as a more plausible hypothesis. This would neatly account for discrepancies, including the rapid, symmetrical and total collapse of building WTC-7, which was not struck by an aeroplane.

Jones’ analysis raises the level of scepticism about the official explanation for the events of 9/11 into the scientific domain. Jones’ distinguished academic career includes a PhD from Vanderbilt University, post-doctoral research at Cornell University and research for the US Department of Energy.

In his paper, Jones points out that the explosive demolition hypothesis cannot be dismissed out of hand as a “conspiracy theory”. Such thinking “departs from good science as well as from numerous historical precedents of empirical conspiracies”. read full story / add a comment

We have come a long way with Chavez.
But no-one ever suggested we were going to go all the way with him.

Years ago, he went from military officer, to charismatic left wing popularist, to television master, to dauphin of Castro, to the "most left wing and popular champion of the poor" in the Americas. A man who could taunt with impunity the Americans under Bush, the Mexicans under Fox. A man who could send fuel and food aid to the poor of Boston, a man who chose not to side with the striking miners of Ecuador. read full story / add a comment

A FROG exporter in Meath is closing down his business following an
attack on his property by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), a violent
international group. Acid was thrown on the businessman’s car and
slogans daubed on buildings located around his farm.

Denis McCarthy, who runs the Kells-based Frog Farm, which is Europe’s
sole exporter of common frogs for medical research, had originally told
the group he would retire at the end of this month, in order to
forestall further attacks. read full story / add a comment
