Has it not occured to many of these contributors that ANARCHY might be attracting attention? I´m not stupid, its obvious to me and many of my friends [hard-working ordinary people] that many of the usual leftwing alternatives have failed. Its obvious to me that genetics and other science have changed the landscape. Its obvious to me that if Bush and Ahern and the others are talking about "globalisation" that means the planet and the planet is not only Europe or American. An adjournment was sought to join the Arts Council as defendants in proceedings at a recent employment tribunal. The case was brought by Stella Coffey, its former chief executive, against the Artists Association of Ireland (AAI). The opening-type statement described the case as rooted in the AAI’s difficulties with the Arts Council, which disingenuously rejected the AAI’s 2000 accounts and withheld a significant part of its funding leading to a crisis. A flawed consultant’s report - writer was introduced by the Arts Council - was followed slavishly by the AAI board and resulted in the chief executive being made redundant. ‘The direct influence of the Arts Council in the AAI’s affairs’ is of great relevance now that ‘the AAI appears to be closing down its doors’ stated Coffey’s counsel as he sought to join the Arts Council in the proceedings. Today is the muslim holiday of Al-Isrá´wa-l-mi-´ray. [standard approximation of classical arabic] This holiday celebrates the Ascension of the Prophet (PBUH) from the rock of the dome in Jerusalem. (PBUH is a muslim protocol meaning peace be upon him similar to catholic "his holiness" etc.) Whether or not you like muslim ethno-cultural belief systems, you don´t have to that clever to know this is a highly sensitive day for World Islam. read full story / add a comment

Denis Donaldson, Head of Administration for Sinn Féin at the Assembly was arrested in the early hours of this morning at his home in West Belfast.
