Then they came for the Jews, & I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, & I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, & I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, & by that time no one was left to speak up. read full story / add a comment

At Shannon Sunnday three military charter flights landed in the space of 20 minutes. Two were passenger planes, and we saw HUNDREDS of troops in desert cammo (so did TG4’s camera crew. Then we saw a Cargo plane, operating for the US military. We photographed it, identified it, and then rang the local Garda station (on their direct line, not 999). We informed the Gardai of the plane, that we had reason to believe that it was carrying a large quantity of munitions, explosives or other weapons. And formally requested that they urgently inspect the aircraft. They did no such thing. When the same thing happened on Monday morning the Airport Police pulled out all the stops to intimidate the monitors. Still no response from the Garda Siochana. read full story / add a comment

In the film of the same name, an alien being delivers a stern warning to the people of the Earth: disarm or perish. He displays his power by stopping transmission of all forms of energy throughout the world. We, the workers whose energy keeps the corporatists' machinery running, can do the same by holding a global general strike. read full story / add a comment

It has been reported that large numbers of US troops have been staying in hotels in the Limerick/ Shaanon region. Apparently as a result of the breakdown of one of the transport planes up to 350 troops were driven by bus to various hotels in the region. One wonders after all the talk about the Duty Free shop in Shannon Airport being international soil, how the establishment will explain this one away. read full story / add a comment

At least there's one Union that still has the balls to do what it's supposed to do - namely looking after their members. The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) is not a member of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) thank god! This 4 hour work stoppage this Wednesday the 15th is one up for the CIE workers and gives the 2 fingers to sell-out merchants such as O'Toole, Gergharty and Beggs and to you sell-out scoundrels such as Beggs I say f**k off! And I mean that! read full story / add a comment
