The biggest Protest yet against the US Military use of Shannon Airport took place on Saturday 12th October. After a pretty standard protest – (some pushing and shoving at the entrance to the airport, speeches, an open mic, a funny standoff between a group of public representatives and the Police, music, chanting, a die-in) – a number of activists took down the fence marking the airport perimeter and initiated a mass Trespass on the grass beside a runway. read full story / add a comment

Romano Prodi, the allegedly corrupt, Church backed president of the allegedly corrupt EU Commission (a body in whose election I had no voice and over which I will have less control if the Nice Treaty passes), has demanded the allegedly corrupt Dail to be ready to explain any possible NO Vote and to confirm that what the "Irish people" _really_ mean is that they want enlargement. Yet the "EU sources" admit that rejection of Nice does NOT stop enlargement (see last paragraph). So is someone trying to fool us?! read full story / add a comment

Over the last days a lot of attention has been focused on Justin Barrett's links with "an extreme right-wing party in Germany which the authorities there believe has "Nazi characteristics" (Irish Times). The media have attempted to use this story to imply all No campaigners are racists with the RTE Radio 1 morning news show going so far as to describe Barretts 'No to Nice' group as an umbrella group for all anti-Nice campaigns. read full story / add a comment
