Shell to Sea campaigner Maura Harrington was arrested in Belmullet on Friday afternoon and jailed for 10 days in Mountjoy prison for the non-payment of a court fine of E300. It is thought that the jailing relates to a 2012 protest attempting to block construction of the disputed development. read full story / add a comment

It is time for the negotiations to stop, and the debate to begin. Should we be able to act when we have reasonable grounds to believe our health and wellbeing is at risk, or must we wait until the damage is done? Were our governments serious in Paris when they said they would do what was necessary to protect the planet, and keep climate change under 1.5 degrees? Please come and show your support and opposition to the crimes against humanity being carried out by Turkey. At 1pm there will be a peaceful vigil at the Turkish embassy, 8 Raglan Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. At 6:30pm there will be a public rally at the Spire in O'Connell Street.
