Sometimes politicians have to lose to win so the other side can show its true colours. Trump is the standout example, says Prof James Allan. Had he won in 2020, we would not have had the blitz of the last four weeks.

One of the heavily militarised police in Ferguson points his military sniper rifle at peaceful protesters

Three Rivers Earth First! had me to go Ferguson and do a reportback. This is it. This is a community grieving. Not just over the murder of a single unarmed young man, though that was terrible enough. What I learned painting stencils with the children of that neighborhood today was this did not occur in some back alley. Where they shot him 6 times was right in the middle of a street, surrounded by multi level apartment complexes filled with children. If the shots did not get their attention the 4 hours they left the body in the middle of the street did. read full story / add a comment

Women harassed for trying to access abortion, people expelled from the cities and villages, others dragged through the courts for resistance to the plundering of the earth, immigrants deported for 'alien blood', workers attacked for union activities, and tenants activists burned in the forest. Activities of developers, employers, nationalists; often backed by the police, the prosecution and the authorities.

All of these issues will be discussed during the Festival days antywięziennych. read full story / add a comment

Press Release - Woodland League

The public amenity forest at Gougane Barra, co Cork has been clear-felled for no good reason. This is
the claim of an internationally renowned Irish tree-scientist and a number of Irish NGOs.
In January 2014, Coillte, the Irish Forestry Board, contended that ‘sudden oak-death’ (Phytophtera
ramorum) had infested the veteran larch trees in the forest and that urgent clear-felling was essential.
Documentary evidence purporting to support this assertion dated July 2013 has been branded tenuous
at best by Diana Beresford-Kroeger the renowned Irish tree-scientist who saw no sign of the disease
while filming in the forest in August of that year. read full story / add a comment

WAKE UP COVENEY…..STOP THE LYING, -WE DO SNARE 6000 BADGERS A YEAR

RANTINGS FROM OUR AGRICULTURE Minister in the video below
"What we are continuing to do is have a humane and targeted cull of badgers which does not involve snares or anything like that. It involves trapping and catching badgers and putting them down in as humane a way as we can."
EVEN BADGERS KNOW WHAT A SNARE IS!

EVEN BADGERS KNOW WHAT A SNARE IS!

Snaring IS the method used to trap badgers by the Department of Agriculture despite the Minister’s outrageous attempt to deny and conceal this fact. Who is he trying to hoodwink?
The AOHS believes that the method of capture is a barbaric wire snare which holds the helpless badger in excruciating pain until it is dispatched by gunshot or clubbed to death the next morning at the earliest as some accounts by farmers have revealed. That is if the badger has not been strangled beforehand by the snares wire. When nursing female badgers are snared and shot, their cubs are left to starve to death underground. The DOA refuse to allow a period for lactating badgers to raise their young without risk of torture"

The Mayo Advertiser carried an article on fracking on Aug 22nd. See below.

Mayo needs to wake up to the reality that the controversial method of extracting natural gas from rock — known as fracking — could soon become a major issue in the county.

That is according to two local Sinn Féin representatives who this week urged the public and political representatives to call on the Government to make its position on fracking clear because a number of Mayo townlands in the Swinford and Charlestown areas have long been flagged as possible fracking sites. read full story / add a comment
