HOLD THIS DATE – 11 February 2012: A Day to Defend Free Expression

One Law for All is calling for a rally in defence of free expression and the right to criticise religion on 11 February 2012 in central London from 2-4pm. We are also calling for simultaneous events and acts in defence of free expression on 11 February in countries world-wide.

The call follows an increased number of attacks on free expression in the UK, including a 17 year old being forced to remove a Jesus and Mo cartoon or face expulsion from his Sixth Form College and demands by the UCL Union that the Atheist society remove a Jesus and Mo cartoon from its Facebook page. It also follows threats of violence, police being called, and the cancellation of a meeting at Queen Mary College where One Law for All spokesperson Anne Marie Waters was to deliver a speech on Sharia. Saying ‘Who gave these kuffar the right to speak?’, an Islamist website called for the disruption of the meeting. Two days later at the same college, though, the Islamic Society held a meeting on traditional Islam with a speaker who has called for the death of apostates, those who mock Islam, and secularist Muslims read full story / add a comment

You don't need to be a financial wizard to recognise that the global economy is struggling. For many businesses, this presents serious challenges to their very survival and sustainability.
However, a Galway-based businessman Geoffrey Canacan has created a unique formula for dealing those challenges that, he claims, can dramatically change results by supporting the individuals within an organisation as they learn to think and act in a more positive and affirming way. read full story / add a comment

The Corporation explores the nature and spectacular rise of the dominant institution of our time. Part film and part movement. The Corporation is transforming audiences and dazzling critics with its insightful and compelling analysis. Taking its status as a legal “person” to the logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrist’s couch to ask “What kind of person is it?” read full story / add a comment

IRMS security hired by shell, occupying the State owned site yet again, demonstrated their lack of concern for health and safety. Outside police pushed protesters off the road, while one halted lorry driver expressed his intentions to police that he would clear the road by driving into protestors. Later spirits were high as police did not even attempt to clear the road when over 15 protesters lay down to block a lorry, which had to be diverted. Later the police returned and used brute force to push people off the road. They hospitalized one protestor.

Renowned Portuguese Fado singer Ana Moura plans to perform in Israel on 27th January, in violation of the Palestinian call for a cultural boycott of the Israeli state. Before going to Israel, she will be playing in Dublin's National Concert Hall on Thursday 19th January.

While welcoming Ms. Moura to Ireland, the IPSC will balance that welcome with a leafleting and demonstration against her indifference to the fate (= “fado”) of the Palestinian people. The demo will start at 8pm on Thursday 19th January at 7pm outside the National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2.

The IPSC issued the following letter to Ms. Moura, but have yet to receive any response: read full story / add a comment
