This afternoon, I spoke to Mairead Corrigan-Maguire at 4.20 pm aboard the Irish Ship, MV Rachel Corrie currently heading to Gaza with a shipment of humanitarian aid supplies for the besieged enclave and Mairead, I'm happy to report, and all on the ship are granite hard in their determination to reach their destination come hell or high water - barring another Israeli murderous attack, the ship should dock in Gaza around 9am tomorrow morning. read full story / add a comment

Both Turkey and Iran have accused Israel of state terror against the activists on the high seas. From a Kurdish point of view I salute the brave peace activists and I sympathize with the situation of the Palestinian people in the face of oppression by the Israeli state. The first copies were distributed as Gardai attacked the Anglo Irish bank occupation and then attempted to stop the anti-capitalist bloc march but this was the formal launch of the new WSM magazine Irish Anarchist Review much of the content of which looks at the fight against the capitalist crisis in the workplace. The Gaza Aid massacre rally is in direct response to the Israeli naval forces deplorable and murderous attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla which was carrying 700 aid workers from 40 countries of which 37 UK and 8 Irish Nationals were attacked by Israeli commando's, leaving 10 dead possibly more and many injured. The Rally will start at 4pm on Saturday the 5th of June outside Belfast City Hall and will include speeches from Bernadette Mc Alisky and John Hurson (Viva Palestina) who has been on two previous convoys to Gaza. read full story / add a comment

Speaking from Istanbul, Dr Fintan Lane, of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), spoke of his experiences on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla which was attacked by Israeli forces on Monday and his time in Israeli detention. He said he was assaulted in custody, while three other Irish received severe beatings and one. Dr. Lane is due to return to Ireland tomorrow afternoon where he will address a press conference in the City Centre. read full story / add a comment

...if Israel and Turkey are not at war, then it is Turkish law which is applicable to what happened on the ship. It is for Turkey, not Israel, to carry out any inquiry or investigation into events and to initiate any prosecutions. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has called a mass demonstration for 2pm this Saturday in Dublin at which the Freedom Flotilla deportees will speak. The demonstration will assemble at 2pm at the Garden of Remembrance and from there will march to the Department of Foreign Affairs on St. Stephen's Green. read full story / add a comment

The IPSC has learned, with relief, that the remaining Irish Freedom Flotilla prisoners are in the air tonight, en route from Tel Aviv airport to Istanbul, along with all the remaining detainees from the ill fated aid flotilla.Last night, around 120 people were deported via Israel's border with Jordan. read full story / add a comment

There will be a press conference with returned Irish Flotilla detainee Shane Dillon today at 2pm in Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2. Mr Dillon, who was deported to Ireland late last night will speak of his experiences on board the Challenger ship when it was boarded by Israeli commandos on Monday where he said he witness the commandos physically attacking non-violent passengers.
