i read with great disquiet yesterday’s report in The Connaught Telegraph of possible phone tapping of those involved in the campaign against the Corrib gas project. It appears from the report that I might be one of those whose phone has been tapped.

Hey, my Name is Big Chief Random Chaos aka Paul Craig and I would like to announce that I will be standing as a candidate in the up coming general election on behalf of the Irish Monster Raving Loony Party. And while this party doesnt exactly exist in reality ( yet), it exists in the mind of 10's of 1000's of people living in Ireland, 100's of dogs and 2 chickens living in Mayo, they just dont know it yet read full story / add a comment

This morning myself and a number of my comrades from the WSM along with members of Eirigi occupied the roof and reception of Corrib House to draw attention to the state giveaway of Irelands natural resources. Outlined here is my understanding of why we need to act to regain control of our resources. read full story / add a comment

While Terry Nolan is telling us that everything is fine, the water is clean, the peat will be transported without incident, and everyone can relax and enjoy the benefits of the Corrib scheme, Shell is in court in Nigeria on charges of dumping toxic waste.

Will we look back at this time in Ireland and ask ourselves why we didn't do more to stop this company gaining a foothold in Erris? read full story / add a comment

I’ve just spent 3 days at Jampa Ling Buddhist centre 2 miles from Bawnboy in West Cavan. I’d been thinking about going there for over a year, having heard a very favourable account about the place from a friend. Then, due to start out on a new job, I finally decided to make the time and go, to think and meditate, to re-organise my brain and my heart, to re-evaluate my priorities in life. read full story / add a comment

Metro Eireann has highlighted an anomaly affecting migrants to the North of Ireland. They are forced to pledge allegiance to the British Queen when seeking citizenship rights.

In line with the Good Friday Agreement, they should have the right to opt out of this feudal coercion of pledging allegiance to an unelected monarch and to a contested state in the north of Ireland.

The Alliance Party and Sinn Fein have opposed this feudal remnant, that has so far been forced on over 600 migrants. Already controversial in Britain, it is completely unsuited to the situation of contested nationality in the north of Ireland. read full story / add a comment

The Alliance for Natural Health filed nine applications to Annex 1 of the EU Food Supplement
Directive and a further six to annex II in Late Feburary and early March 2007.
The primary subjects of the applications were natural vitamins and minerals
which were ommitted from the Directive's Annexes ('positive list').

On the 16th of March , the ANH informed the EU Commission that it had filed the
applications and would scrutinise it and the European Food Safety Authority's
(EFSA) procedures with regard to their evaluation. read full story / add a comment

Iggy Madden of Iggy Madden Haulage Ltd, Galway, crony, “close friend and confidante,” whatever, of shady Frank Fahey, was the target of Galway Shell to Sea’s concern this afternoon on account of the imminent removal by his firm of some 660,000 metric tonnes of blanket bog from Shell’s proposed gas refinery in Bellanaboy and dumped in a Bord Na Mona cutaway bog in Bangor Erris despite serious ecological concerns for such a venture.

As karma or serendipity would have it, the great man himself was to hand when 13 Shell to Sea activists, prior to a picketing of his depot, were handing in a letter of protest to his docklands offices. Instead of hearing our plaints with a fair ear we were verbally abused, instead, and subjected to diplomacy of the bar room, redneck, kind ; “I’ll shove yer camera up yer arse” "Do ya have a job" etc, etc. So it goes.

Next Protest at Shannon

Many people wonder why so few protesters turn up for protests at Shannon airport. They frequently ask why does'nt someone organise something. The answer to this is, why dont you? This is your airport too, and the children killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are all of our children.
Please don't give up on this most serious of issues, please make it an issue in the comming election.
We need weekly protests at Shannon airport on a continuous basis not only up to the election at the end of May but also afterwards, so that the next Government don't take our silence as agreement with Irish Government complicity in crimes against humanity. read full story / add a comment
