Todays Papers state the Pope Benedict will visit the North of Ireland Next year. He is to be Invited to beatify Saint Columbana. The proposed visit is being requested by Dr Martin and envisages also a joint visit by HRH The Queen. The most recent report of Pope Benedict was a couple of days ago , when he deplored the activities of the Fern's Priests who got away with child abuse and tortured a generation of Irish Children. I think we should all take a look at what is so important about indymedia work and why it is so important and what it means to each one of us. I hope that we draw courage of conviction from Brad's example and that we stand together throughout the indymedia network and as individuals to redouble our efforts. I think you all know that it could have been any one of us. But, it is so much easier for them to take us one at a time. We stand much more strongly together in what we can all be proud of. Films, Music and Dance from 8 till late... ... including the award winning documentary 'The Drilling Fields' which tells how Shell paid off the Nigerian Military to rape and kill villagers in the Ogoni region of the Niger Delta who opposed Shell, who destroyed their pristine fertile delta environment, poisoning their lands and rivers with oil. Interviews and footage of Saro-Wiwa as he organised the Ogoni people and travelled the world for support. Eventually framed for murder with 8 other leaders of MOSOP ( Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People) he and them were hung by the Shell/Nigerian dictatorship in 1995. ... in preparation for The International Day of Action against Shell on the anniversary Ken Saro-Wiwa's death by the noose of sHell.
