On Saturday Afternoon, Galwegians and their friends from around the country and world, came together on newly renamed (by us), Anti-Shop Street, to take back our space from the capitalist, consumerist culture which has taken it over, with its bizarre ideas of a life dedicated to shopping, spending, buying and profit, so that we could share an experience of another world, where everything is free, people share and give food, fun, stuff and life, simply because they can and it just feels good! read full story / add a comment

The long running struggle in Erris (Rossport) against Shell's attempt to impose an experimental gas pipeline on the local community has erupted in recent days with repeated local direct actions against the compound Shell are trying to construct. Meanwhile the state, at the behest of Shell, continues to press vindictive prosecutions against local activists. Back in March retired school teacher Maura Harrington for jailed for 30 days, today the state returned for another pound of flesh and she was sentenced to another 7-10 days in Mountjoy prison. At very short notice over 20 activists from Dublin Shell to Sea gathered at the prison gates and showed their outrage by blocking the entrance of the prison van containing Maura in to Mountjoy for about twenty minutes. read full story / add a comment

Does Peter Murtagh have a relationship with the PR department of Shell? Do Conor Lally's "security cources" wear blue uniforms? Why has no one been charged with the break in on the Shell compound where someone supposedly started a digger and tore down a fence? Did anyone take a picture of this attack? Why did the security guards run away? How is that the security guard with the injured arm has never been named nor photographed? read full story / add a comment

Dublin Shell to Sea are delighted to invite all our supporters to enter our second Revolutionary Kick-Off, a five-a-side soccer tournament. While teams are generally based on involvement in political campaigns or organisations but its not in any way essential and individuals are very welcome to register and play on a S2S team. Apart from raising much needed funds for Dublin S2S, the tournament promises to give all participants a great day out and provides lefties with an opportunity to engage in some healthy competition away from the ballot boxes. :) read full story / add a comment

"Internationalist initiative" is a political alliance grouping formed to contest the EU parliament 2009 elections in the European constituency of the Spanish state. Its leader is the 93 year old, Madrid born, writer, dramatist, script-writer and Spanish film-director Alfonso Sastre, perhaps best known for being a member of the "1955 generation" of creative artists whose output and activity coincided with the opening of the Franco regime's attitude to art and literature which came along with its acceptance by the west under Eisenhower. Mr Sastre was also third on the last list presented by ANV the illegalised Basque political party deemd to be a proxy of Batasuna. read full story / add a comment

Ken Loach : 'Katie Barlow’s film Visit Palestine is both a devastating account of daily life for Palestinians and a fine portrait of a brave and selfless Irish woman who lives with them. No-one talks politics yet it is a deeply political film. You are left with a burning anger on behalf of those who bear the occupation of their land and appalling military oppression with such fortitude. Israel, the U.S. and their apologists stand indicted and, on this evidence, convicted' The Guardian : '...a passionate indictment of the Israeli military in the Jenin refugee camp...this is raw, urgent movie-making' read full story / add a comment
