Despite an unforeseen clash with an Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM) demo on the same day, the meeting attracted around 30 participants and was an interesting and informative event.

Deirdre Clancy, a leading anti-war activist, chaired the first part of the meeting. Deirdre became known for her role in an action that disarmed a US war plane in Shannon in February 2003. She and four other activists were arrested, imprisoned and later tried on counts of criminal damage that could have meant up to 10 years in prison. But after two collapsed trials the five defendants were finally unanimously acquitted by a jury in 2005.

Maryam Hosseinkhah wrote this article in Evin Prison. Maryam was arrested on November 17 in relation to her activities and writings in defense of equal rights for women. On the 18th, a very high bail order was issued in her case. Maryam couldnt meet it and she was committed to Evin Prison.

This is prison; the women's ward of Evin prison. This is not my first time here; not the first time I've come to Evin. The first time, I came here as a journalist. Alongside the warden, I walked from cell to cell to listen to the stories of women who were here on charges of addiction, prostitution and murder. read full story / add a comment

The Illustration is of a Frida Kahlo painting. Her dress, which was part of the identity that
she assumed as a campaigner and as a Mexican woman hung between the borders of
the Juggernaut America (Henry Ford's Vision) and Mexico as a sustainable and unique
country. Unfortunately Diego did work for Ford and Kahlo died after contracting Pneumonia
