Reports are just coming in that all convoy members have been escorted to the airport in Cairo and are facing de facto deportation and black-listing. There were fears for their safety last night after reports emerged from Gaza that Israeli air-strikes had struck up to seven locations in the Gaza Strip. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Chris Strafford writes on how the Iranian people face a double danger: the possibility of a Bloodbath being launched by the Theocracy and threats of War and Sanctions from US Imperialism. Full article at link. Further sanctions are being put in place, and Obama is holding back Israel for the time being, but has been promising “decisive action” if Iran does not halt all uranium enrichment. One Israeli diplomat was quoted in The Guardian as saying, “Obama has convinced us that it’s worth trying the sanctions, at least for a few months” (January 3). The imperialists seem to be moving towards military aggression this year - Washington has now dismissed the validity of the intelligence estimate which concluded that Iran was no longer trying to acquire nuclear weapons. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Report by Grainne V: On December 31st 2009, 18 people gathered together on Scarriff Bridge to remember the over 1,400 Palestinians in Gaza who were killed by the Israeli Army last year and to stand in solidarity with the survivors of that attack, cynically named 'Operation Cast Lead'. We were one of many groups nationwide who met on bridges around the country at the same time as 1,400 internationals attempted to cross into Gaza through the Rafah crossing from Egypt bringing much-needed aid and solidarity. read full story / add a comment ![]()

It's a small mercy that: "The Viva Palestina convoy is now steaming towards Egypt after facing down all efforts to delay or stop its mission to bring relief to the besieged people of Gaza" (Alice Howard; Viva Palestina). It's a large crime, a crime against humanity that Egypt, a client state of Israel and the US, cold-bloodedly obstructed vital humanitarian aid reaching the desperate Gazans and brutally assaulted the Gaza Freedom Marchers and prevented them from breaking the medieval siege of that suffering land. read full story / add a comment ![]()
