Beit Jala : One of the fronts of the popular struggle in the West Bank is now Beit Jala, Bethlehem district. The whole of the Bethlehem district has been surrounded by the Apartheid-Annexation Wall and ever-expanding settlements for years. Now, Beit Jala is being hit even harder by the apartheid policies of the Israeli army and government via the new path of the Apartheid Wall in the area. On the morning of Tuesday, April 22nd 2010, Israeli bulldozers reached the home of Beit Jala resident Mitri Ghneim and started to level and damage the garden of his house. This event was just the most recent attack by Israeli soldiers. read full story / add a comment

Education Minister Caitríona Ruane joined a large group of Ógra Shinn Féin members today at Down’s County Museum in Downpatrick, to launch Sinn Féin’s Youth Manifesto ‘Creating the Future’, for the upcoming Westminster election.

The Museum was selected as a site of historical significance, it previously being home of the County Gaol where United Irishmen leader Thomas Russell was executed on 21 October 1803.

The youth manifesto which was drafted by members of the party’s youth wing Ógra Shinn Féin forms the basis of the work and policies which Sinn Féin will be carrying out regards youth in the next 5 years.

These include education, suicide prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, calling for the abolition of ASBO’s, road safety, youth job creation, creating affordable housing, and progressing Irish Unity.

The former face of the BBC Northern Ireland's GAA coverage has unleashed an extraordinary attack on the corporation for downgrading its coverage of Gaelic games and subjecting him to "racial harassment".

Self-proclaimed "Mr GAA" Jerome Quinn is representing himself in a case against the BBC in which he alleges unfair dismissal and discrimination.

He was sacked last year after his employer discovered he had been posting anonymous criticism of its coverage of Gaelic football and hurling on a GAA discussion board.

The award-winning presenter said they were an attempt to "inform fans of what was behind anti-GAA coverage in BBC NI". read full story / add a comment

Aileen O'Carroll draw on the stories and diaries of those working in IT company’s to talk about the secrets and contradictions of working in a global industry. The myth is that IT workers happily work a 60 hour week but like workplaces of a previous era, there is a struggle over the nature of work and the length of working time within our lives. The left tends to focus on the formal visible struggles conducted through trade unions. What can this other level of often individualised struggle teach us in the fight for a new world? read full story / add a comment
