If adversity breeds empathy and solidarity it was certainly on display yesterday in Shop Street, when after their participation in the protest march against the ongoing government attacks on the vulnerable and voiceless in Irish society, 6 Shell to Sea stalwarts joined forces with activists with the Free Palestine Campaign to express solidarity and empathy with the Palestinian people and their revulsion at what Gazans were subjected to last Dec/Jan - at what President of the UN General Assembly Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann called "genocide". read full story / add a comment

The UK Equality and Human Rights Commission launched county court proceedings against the BNP party leader, Nick Griffin, and two other party officials, Simon Darby and Tanya Jane Lumby soon after the European elections. The EHRC case was quite clear : the BNP party constitution restricts membership of the organisation on grounds of ethnicity & race & the EHRC was created to uphold the UK Race Relations Act. So, in a move which oughtn't surprise anyone who has seen now the BNP are playing the field with their new drive for a slice of the political pie, Nick Griffin has today announced that he will table a new constitution to the BNP conference next month. read full story / add a comment

LUSH’S FABULOUS MRS FOX CHALLENGES FOX HUNTING
Lush Cosmetics Launches Campaign Against Fox Hunting; in Support of the Association of Hunt Saboteurs

Ireland—This week Lush Cosmetics is launching an in-store campaign to highlight that hunting with hounds continues throughout Ireland. Although hunting foxes with hounds has been banned in Scotland since 2002 and England and Wales since 2005, this blood sport remains legal in Ireland. During the week of October 12th the windows of Lush’s four Irish shops will be emblazoned with the words ‘THE HUNTS ARE STILL AT IT’. Customers will be encouraged to sign petitions asking for hunting with hounds to be made a criminal act. Lush’s Irish shops are located in Dublin, Belfast and Cork.
