A large number of people turned out at 2pm on Saturday, 17 April, for the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day demonstration outside the Israeli embassy in Dublin. The protest was organised conjointly by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) and éirígí (the socialist republican party formed in 2006), and the focus was on a call for the release of ALL Palestinian political prisoners imprisoned by the Israeli State - those 'convicted' in Israeli Military courts and those interned without trial under the 'Administrative Detention' regime. read full story / add a comment ![]()

![]() ![]() The Shell manager who accepted the latest load of letters from objectors to the Shell project just last week turns out to be the son of a (former) Labour politician. A politician who always campaigned hard on Corrib, but on behalf of the multi-national, not his constituents. So it was a bit of a surprise to see Jerry Cowley, wealthy Barrister and GP, and once supposedly a supporter of the Shell to Sea campaign, sign up for Labour yesterday. read full story / add a comment ![]()

---Corrib project has been imposed through 'harassment' of the local community--- 409 letters have been delivered from members of the community of Kilcommon to Shell's Belmullet offices today Monday. The letter outlines their refusal to meet with representatives of the company while Pat O'Donnell remains in jail and the imposition of the Corrib gas project continues without community consent. The letters detail a large number of grievances that the local community have with the imposition of the project, and state that people are refusing to meet with Shell while what “effectively amounts to ongoing and escalating physical and psychological harassement” continues in the area. The letters dismiss as hollow Shell's proposed 'consultation', in the context of the fact that the current and previous Managing Directors of the company have publicly stated that the project will not be changed in any way in response to community concerns. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Are we spending our precious time outside of work at protests and meetings because we want to improve our lives or are we just fighting for future generations. In either case what is it that we are trying to do as we move from topic to topic and struggle to struggle? Alan MacSimoin doesn't expect to see the glorious day while Andrew Flood is preparing for it being just around the corner. read full story / add a comment |
