The 12 Days of CRHistmas is a series of Monty Python-inspired videos created by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign for its Stop Cementing Misery campaign - http://www.ipsc.ie/crhdivest. The videos are designed to create public awareness in Ireland of CRH’s involvement in building the illegal apartheid wall in Palestine. CRH owns a 25% share in Israeli cement company Mashav, which is building both the wall and illegal settlements. Mashav in turn owns Nesher Cement Enterprises Ltd., which is Israel’s sole supplier of cement. read full story / add a comment

Several hundred people took part in "A Spectacle Of Defiance And Hope" in Dublin on the night of Friday 10th December to protest the way the government have cut funding to vital community services. Janice Feighery a co-ordinator at an after school computer program for young people said “Community programmes are being devastated by the cuts. Our work with young people is strangled by lack of funds." The spectacle draws to a close the week of protests against the austerity budget.

PILOT WHO CROSSED O'LEARY RESIGNS - The Ryanair pilot who said the airline should replace Michael O'Leary, the low-cost airline's chief executive, with a junior flight attendant to save money has quit after being reassigned from southern France to the "Siberia" of a base in Lithuania, says the Financial Times.

Captain Morgan Fischer was one of almost 30 Ryanair pilots working at Marseilles who had to move after the airline announced in October that it was closing the base following a disagreement with French authorities. The pilots were asked to bid for new bases. Most did so and were offered work at bases in Spain, Italy, Portugal and elsewhere, including some a few hours' drive from Marseilles, where many live with their families. read full story / add a comment

Hortefeux the minister of the interior (= to minister of justice or home secretary) has found a new enemy now that Romanians, women in veils & Africans are old hat.

Yep.

Paris indymedia is according to him an anti-police website which facilitates the indentification of serving police officers thus leading to their general ostracisation & probably unpopularity. read full story / add a comment

Julian Assange may be imprisoned but Wikileaks is still operational, still releasing the information that Obama and Clinton do not want us to see. False rape charges have been filed against Assange in Sweden so that he might be extradited to there and then on to the US where he would likely face life imprisonment. More likely death as its very easy to arrange murder inside a federal prison.

Those who have collaborated with the attempts to close down Wikileaks have learned there is a price to pay.

Below is a statement from Wikileaks. This is followed by excerpts from other articles regarding Wikileaks. read full story / add a comment

If incompetent rulers are a pre-requisite for revolution in Ireland, well this most certainly is that time, as we watch the bankruptcy of both finance and Irish leadership dailyunfold. It is somewhat paradoxical for Irish republicans to politically agree with a British proponent of population control such as Huxley but few will deny, these last quotes below, again from Huxley, would be an apt summary of the motivation of a large segment of Irish republicanism. read full story / add a comment

It is ok for this writer to ask if our Fianna Fáil/Green Government are men or mice? because it is quite clear that Ireland's government is male-dominated and amongst the trash of its legacy appears the failure which we have come to know as the Blasphemy Amendment , which was an innovation by a Minister for Justice unconcerned in the state of prisons, best practices with regard to fefamation of religions or personal freedom.

On July 23rd of 2009 the Irish president gave her seal to the Criminal Justice Act and the Defamation Bill, wherein groups are incentivised to take legal action against what they perceive or understand to be published or uttered Blasphemy.

In the next few weeks, more than likely An Bord Pleanála will be announcing their decision on whether to grant permission to Shell to build the onshore section of the Corrib Gas pipeline. Below is a review of the reopened oral hearing that ran from the 24th of August until the 1st of October in 2010 in Belmullet. Again (this is the fourth convening of an oral hearing), opponents of the Corrib Gas Project made lengthy and comprehensive submissions on why they are opposed to the project.
