Approximately 100–150 mostly women gathered outside the dail this evening with their pots and pans to show solidarity with the poor and hungry men, women and children of Iraq. The idea of banging pots and pans was originally derived by the Spanish but this small crowd of Irish women showed that they could do just a well as the Spanish. Demonstrators chanted slogans and sang peace songs and the small crowd shouted shame shame shame in the direction of government buildings. The demonstration passed off without and disturbances or arrests. read full story / add a comment

12th April "Cacerolada" in SHANNON Next Saturday MAMA will be in Shannon. In this Tuesday meeting the anti-war group of Limerick and Clare have decided to participate in the Largest non-violent Demonstration for peace ever seen in Shannon Airport, which is going to happen next Saturday the 12th April. The idea that we propose is that every single person in Limerick and Clare brings a pot or a saucepan and bang it with any spoon, fork or stick or whatever can make noise. Feel free to bring anything that can make the loudest sound possible (we also recommend to bring ear plugs). This idea of the "Cacerolada" comes from Argentina, where the "mothers of May" used this technique, to be heard by the government, and has been performed with a huge success in Barcelona (Spain) were hundreds of thousands of people are going to the streets almost every weekend since the read full story / add a comment

DATA:BASE is a one-day conference exploring the theme of "Democratization of Technology" featuring artists/musicians/technologists/academics and works that engage the public, where the public is essential to the nature of the work (execution, presentation, involvement). In addition to the symposium, the space will feature a workshop space with basic prototyping tools, a technology swap-meet for people to freely trade old and used equipment, vendors selling technology-art based wares (art books, artist-made mouse pads, digital prints, etc...), and ongoing live interventions and performances during the day. read full story / add a comment

Watched BBC news yesterday evening in the Front Page Bar after a hard two days monitoring the activities of the ‘leadership’ of the ‘Irish Anti War Movement’ and their extensive co-operation with some of the more ‘hardened elements’ in the PSNI. I saw a tricolour being raised on Iraqi Soil. I saw Bush patting Bertie on the back. I didn’t see him offer Bush a pint of the Black Stuff in return. More’s the pity. I felt sick and wished that Bertie was in front of me so I could vomit on him. read full story / add a comment
