POSSIBILITIES is organised by three Irish non-profit organisations: Afri, Children in Crossfire and SpunOut.ie and aims to inspire people, young and old, to become vocal and active in transforming our country and our planet for the better. The event will be attended by the exiled and soon to retire Tibetan leader, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, who accepted a personal invitation to come to Ireland from his close friend, Derry man Richard Moore. On 9 April 2011, human rights defender Mr Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja was arrested and beaten unconscious by police in Al-Manama, Bahrain. Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja is a former Protection Co-ordinator for Front Line and former President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR). His current whereabouts, along with that of two of his sons-in-law, remains unknown and he is believed to be at high risk of torture.

As the controversial itinerary for the upcoming state visit by Elizabeth Windsor is revealed éirígí have announced the details of their latest protest against that same visit. A woman was seeking medical attention in Belmullet yesterday after a Garda punched her in the stomach outside a Shell compound in Co. Mayo. The assault occurred as Gardaí were forcing a protest off the public road in front of the work site.
