On the 25th of November 2009 on the Ray D'Arcy Show on Today FM, Ray and his co-hosts said that 'people' should stop playing the "BLAME GAME" in Ireland and just move on. However by the next show the following day (26 Nov '09) a woman by the name of 'Majella' had emailed them with a responce to this topic. I was working at the time, I actually stopped what I was doing and I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it was unreal. I ask you to listen to this 'pod cast' and above all keep an open mind. The link is posted below....

p.s. What you don't get to hear is the "Collector Generals" explanation which isn't much good as a responce to this email... you also don't get to hear the tongue lashing he got from Ray D'Arcy nor will you hear about the Collector Generals update of progress of investigation into this case today. You'll understand all of this after you have listened to the attached link; this will only take 6 minutes of your time, so please listen to it the whole way through!!

Thanks. read full story / add a comment

RTÉ Primetime Investigates next Thursday is a special on the death of Michael Dwyer.

Dwyer worked for Shell as a security guard in Mayo last year, and while there, made contact with extremists from right-wing militia groups. He joined with a number of these men and spent time in Bolivia, where after an investigation he was killed when police stormed his hotel room. It will be interesting to see what spin RTE will place on the events in Bolivia and Ireland. read full story / add a comment

As conventional sources of oil become rarer the energy corporations have started the mass extraction of oil from the tar sands of Alberta. This is a filthy process that involves vast open cast mines, tailing ponds that can be seen from space and the use of huge quantities of water and energy making it a major cause of climate change. On Saturday Heather Milton Lightening of the Indigenous Environmental Network spoke to a national Shell to Sea meeting in Dublin about this struggle (last night she spoke in Inver, Erris). This is a 50 minute recording of that talk and the discussions that followed it. read full story / add a comment

When it comes to the public meeting, Arthur Scargill is one of the best performers around. He has it down to fine art. Perhaps this is down to his political up bringing as a member of the Young Communist League, where great stress was placed on the importance of making inspiring speeches. Or perhaps it has something to do with that fact that much maligned figure like Scargill needs the medium of the public meeting more than most to get across his points, and has thus has a particualr understanding of how to use public meetings to maximum effect. read full story / add a comment
