12th April Demonstration "Cacerolada" in SHANNON MAMA will be next Saturday in Shannon. In this Tuesday meeting the Pacifist group of Limerick and Clare have decided to respond to the Largest non-violent Demonstration for the peace ever done in Shannon Airport that it is going to happen next 12th April. The idea that we propose is that every single person in brings a pot or a saucepan and bang it with any spoon, fork or stick or whatever can make noise. Feel free to bring anything that can make the louder sound possible (we also recommend to bring ear plugs). This idea of the "Cacerolada" has been performed with a huge success in Barcelona (Spain) were hundreds of thousands of people are going to the streets almost every weekend since the war started banging any single pot, plate, pan or casserole (here it comes the name in Spanish) to be heard read full story / add a comment

"We need to make sure that whatever government comes after Saddam is democratic," said Ronald Michael, president of the Assyrian American League in Chicago. "If we don't, we will have no way to protect our rights." History erased from texts Already, Assyrian history and contributions to Iraq have been erased from school textbooks, community leaders say. The Assyrian language is a dying tongue. Iraqi censuses do not count Assyrians as a category, because the government does not consider them a separate ethnicity. read full story / add a comment

UTV reports that David Ford, the Alliance Party leader, said that Bush, during his meeting with party leaders, saw a linkage between US efforts toward Ireland and the wider world scene. "There was a very specific and explicit linkage between the Middle East and what is happening here." said Mr. Ford. This is in sharp contrast to Gerry Adams' claim that there is a contradiction between US policy in Ireland and in Iraq. read full story / add a comment
