To commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (the Arabic for 'catastrophe') - which saw the forcible explusion of over 700,000 Palestinians from their homes to faciliate the creation of the Zionist State of Israel in 1948 - the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign(IPSC) will be hosting a series of Nakba Week events from 8th - 15th May 2010. Yesterday in Athens tens of thousands of Greek workers took part in another general strike against the austerity measures being imposed by the Greek government at the behest of the European Union. Together with over 300 cities from around the world, Legalise Cannabis Ireland are proud to announce that the fourth annual Legalise Cannabis Day is to take place in both Dublin and Cork this Saturday the 8th of May. Through experience in this anonymous subculture we have repeatedly found that the vast majority of cannabis users in Ireland can consume cannabis responsibly. These are typically decent and similarly unharmful people who should be able to consume cannabis without being criminalised or having fear of oppression for doing so. Due to the nature of prohibition, our culture is largely unfarmiliar in the general public's eye. Despite this, we will march in protest of the criminalisation of cannabis users and we call for full utilisation of the cannabis plant for its medical, industrial, recreational and agricultural values. read full story / add a comment |
