The Galway Alliance Against War marked the 7th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan yesterday, Thursday 20th November and called on the Irish government to withdraw Irish troops from this occupied country. Ireland’s involvement in this conflict does not stop at Shannon airport. Irish officers are presently working alongside NATO forces in Kabul and some of those soldiers are known to come from Galway’s Liam Mellows barracks. read full story / add a comment

Christmas shoppers in Galway are being urged to 'look behind the label' when doing their Christmas shopping in the coming weeks. The National Youth Campaigners from Concern's 'Stop Child Labour' campaign met in Galway recently and declared their commitment to encouraging awareness and action on this issue. The campaigners, hosted by the SpunOut.ie National Youth Organisation, are highlighting that up to 218 million children worldwide are involved in the manufacture of products such as chocolate, clothing and toys. read full story / add a comment
