The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) yesterday marked the second anniversary of the landmark International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling that Israel’s wall in the West Bank is illegal. The IPSC paid a visit to the Department of Foreign Affairs to deliver some 5,000 petitions collected in recent months by its Dublin and Limerick branches. The petitions were handed in at 12.30pm, preceded by a ceremonial signing of the petition by Senator Brendan Ryan of Labour, Mary Lou McDonald, MEP of Sinn Fein and Trevor Sargent, TD of the Greens. The Living Wage Campaign was lauched today in City Hall. It is calling for a Living Wage of 10 euro an hour as the minimum rate that any employees of companies awarded public contracts should be paid. Crumlin based Cllr. Eric Byrne has submitted a motion to Dublin City Council calling for contracts only to be given to companies that pay a Living Wage. The campaign launch was supported by Mick O Reilly of the ATGWU, Jack O Connor of SIPTU, Labour Youth, Joanne Delaney and Pat Rabbitte T.D. leader of the Labour Party. read full story / add a comment

Today at 7:00 am residents and other members of the local community of dalkey village,co.dublin gathered in protest against the building of a villi-com tele communications tower being built in the centre of their village and attempted and succesfuly blockaded the local police station and halted the building for the first in hopefully many days to come..... a brief description of the actions taken today by the community of dalkey village accompanied with photos. read full story / add a comment

Irish republican prisoners at Maghaberry Prison are being exposed to a deadly disease threat during outdoor exercise. The political prisoners' only access to fresh air, one or two hours outdoors on alternating days, is given in a tiny enclosed cage derisively known as "the birdcage"; which is covered ceiling and floor with bird droppings. read full story / add a comment
