This is a call out from Shell to Sea in Rossport. It is expected that Shell, with assistence from the cops, will attempt to forcibly start work in the next few days. 100-200 cops are reported to have been drafted into the area for up to one month. If you can, please get here as soon as possible. Accommadtion will be provided. On Saturday Ógra Shinn Féin, in conjunction with the Irish Basque Committee, ran a stall at the GPO in Dublin in support of Inaki de Juana Chaos, the Basque political prisoner who has been on hunger strike in a Spanish jail due to the Spanish governments attempts to block his release having served his time. read full story / add a comment

On Tuesday 26th September, Magee Ogra Shinn Fein held a recruitment drive in the university grounds. The Magee cumann has been active in the University for a number years and still remains the only active political society on the campus. Ogra Shinn Fein were ecxluded from the freshers fayre as they refused to sign the political protocol which was introduced by the University of Ulster and endorsed by the Students Union. The protocol censors political activity and effectively meant that Ogra could not hand out any literature which which would identify them as being a political society. Undeterred by this absurd decision, the cumann set up outside the Sports Hall. read full story / add a comment

Pine Gap is an NSA Base, located near outback Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is involved in targetting information for U.S. bombing raids in Iraq. In Dec '05 a group of Christian pacifists dressed in "Citizen's Inspection" white overalls made their way into this most secure site. they were arrested and have been charged under draonian legisation. read full story / add a comment

Ógra Shinn Féin was joined by Gerry Adams on Saturday to launch the Dublin Health Rally. Some Ógra activists held posters while others dressed up as patients on a hospital trolley, representing the massive waiting lists that currently passes as a Health Service in the 26 Counties. National Organiser of Ógra, Barry McColgan said, 'I urge all Ógra activists to mobilise themselves and their community for the Public Health Rally in Dublin - ÓSF will form up in a contingent for the rally and 'Suicide Prevention' will be the theme. The Western Writers' Centre website at www.twwc.ie welcomes stories and poems for publication in English, French as well as Irish. Already the site carries a number of works from around the globe; but manager Fred Johnston, who himself translates stories and poems from French into English and received a Prix de l'Ambassade to work on the poetry of Michel Martin, would like to see the actual languages change. read full story / add a comment

On Wed the 20th September Ógra Shinn Féin Co Lú ran a recruitment drive in Dundalk Institute of Technology. The Cumann has been in the college for three years and until this year was the only active political society in the Institute. The drive went very well receiving a great deal of attention from students and improving on the number of members for last year. A number of senior party members attended, including Louth TD Arthur Morgan, Caitríona Ruane MLA and the next TD for Meath Councillor Joe Reilly. read full story / add a comment

A white-line picket was held in Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, on Saturday, 23rd September. The picket was organised by the Republican Prisoners’ Action Group (RPAG), and was in support of the demands of the POWs currently on protest in Maghaberry Gaol. In spite of adverse weather conditions a large crowd turned out to demonstrate their support for the prisoners' demands. read full story / add a comment

The Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR) are accusing Estee Lauder's Crème de la Mer and Aer Rianta Retail of gross cruelty, repedative neglect and negligence to Seahorses and their young over the past year in Dublin Airport. The Animal Rights group and other welfare groups were alerted to the situation when dead seahorses were seen in the tank at departures in Dublin Airport.
