Even though this is more than 1 week old, we are reposting it here to demonstrate how the state is going out of it's way to facilitate Indaver in their attempts to push through this incinerator in Ringaskiddy, Cork. Bord Pleanala has advised that the additional information supplied by Indaver is considered to contain significant additional data in relation to the effects on the environment of the proposed Ringaskiddy incinerator and have invited submissions from observers during a six week period to close 21 July 2017 at 5.30pm. This material was submitted at the invitation of the Bord who on making a fourth decision deferral in March 2017 invited Indaver to submit additional information on flight paths and an opportunity to correct their erroneous dioxin figures, exposed on the final day of the Oral Hearing held in April/May 2016. read full story / add a comment

A Judicial Review brought by Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE) alleges that the Chief Executive of Fingal County Council failed to provide satisfactory explanatory reasons for granting the extension to the original decision to allow a third runway at Dublin Airport. FIE alleges that the record shows that the Chief Executive was fully aware that the extra runway would result in increased greenhouse gas emissions, in contravention of the objectives of the 2015 Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act read full story / add a comment

Licensed psychotherapist, author and publisher Carmel Sheridan knows that no matter where nurses live and work, they struggle with similar issues: compassion fatigue, depression, substance abuse, poor boundary setting, neglected self-care, and high stress levels. "I've lived in the U.S. and Ireland, and many of the participants in my stress-management groups are nurses spanning every specialty. Nurses have particularly high levels of stress and burnout." Often dubbed "the invisible patients," nurses endure emotionally grueling and physically draining shifts, often with little support. Stress in nursing won't reduce until conditions improve. The Corrib Partners are benefiting from a relatively high gas-priced product and recorded estimated sales of over €420m in the first full year of production at the Corrib gas field. Production started on the field at the end of 2015. Garda Maurice McCabe was an honest Garda who was horrified by the way that ‘respected’ and well connected people got their penalty points written off. When he reported this practice, he was immediately ostracised. Senior officials saw him as a dangerous outsider who was upsetting local networks of privilege. Far from being ground down, Maurice McCabe started to look at other malpractices. Earlier today three people targetted by members of the UK National Public Order Intelligence Units (NPOIU) in Ireland held a press conference. They want to build pressure on the Irish government to open up about the role of British spies in Ireland. The three, Kate Wilson, Kim Bryan and Jason Kirkpatrick travelled from Spain,Wales and Germany. Kate is one of a number of women who brought cases against the Metropolitan police in London because of being decieved into long term relationships with men who turned out to be undercover officers. read full story / add a comment |
