STATEMENT FROM THE IRISH REPUBLICAN ARMY The following is an IRA leadership statement in the wake of the recent speech by British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the suspension of the political institutions by the British government. Recent events show that the leadership of unionism have set their faces against political change at this time. There is also a real threat to the peace process from the British establishment and its agencies as well as the loyalist murder gangs. In the past the IRA leadership has acted unilaterally to save and enhance the peace process. We have also outlined how, in our view, the full implementation by the two governments of their commitments could provide a political context with the potential to remove ... read full story / add a comment

In a bizarre encounter at Shannon airport, two of the war monitors at Shannon today came face to face with a group of US military personnel in the arrivals hall at Shannon airport. The monitors were in the public area, watching the three Hercules C-130s at the airport, and did not expect to see uniformed military personnel in the public part of the terminal. Two inspectors, two Garda and several security personnel made sure we left the premises. They were very determined to get us out, and the whole thing raises a lot of questions. Today is Halloween so maybe they were just trick or treating? Strange and scary stuff… ... read full story / add a comment
