European gas prices recently went above ?58 per megawatt hour ? the equivalent of $100 per barrel of oil. This is "absolutely destructive for energy-intensive manufacturing", in the words of one industry analyst.

Any electrician knows that Lego bricks are genderless, not 'heteronormative', because each can 'mate' with any other. Perhaps Science Museum staff should study to be electricians and actually make themselves useful.

offsite link Why All Parents Should Protest Against the Children?s Wellbeing and Schools Bill Tue Feb 11, 2025 18:14 | Elizabeth Dulley
Any parent can currently withdraw their child from school if they're unhappy. Labour's Schools Bill ends that right for many, giving local authorities a veto. That's why all parents should protest against this state power grab.

The "Guernica" work by Pablo Picasso at the entrance of the Security Council of the United Nations has been covered with a curtain. The reason for covering this work is that this is the place where diplomats make statements to the press and have this work as the background. The Picasso work features the horrors of war. On January 27 a large blue curtain was placed to cover the work. A diplomat stated that it would not be an appropriate background if the ambassador of the United States at the U.N. John Negroponte, or Powell, talk about war surrounded with women, children and animals shouting with horror and showing the suffering of the bombings. ... read full story / add a comment

According to an Ireland.com report (below) a Garda spokesman said this afternoon no officer was injured or hospitalised in the Shannon incident - despite what government ministers are saying. The government will no doubt try any trick to try and split the anti-war movement in the run-up to Feb 15 (like in the UK banning the Feb 15th march from assembling in Hyde Park). Congratulations guys on disarming part of the murder machine. ... read full story / add a comment

The Indians, Chinese and Europeans are beginning to understand that the US is seeking to gain “leverage against them” by securing control of the oil. Tareq Aziz said that a US war would not be a war on Iraq alone, but a war on the region, India, Sri Lanka and Europe. “Iraq is the first, but not the only target,” Aziz told the Irish lawmakers. The ultimate US aim is to “recolonise Iraq” and secure “control of its oil” in order to dominate the entire global economy. ... read full story / add a comment
