Russia's armed forces have obtained information that the United States and its allies have already decided to launch military action in Iraq from mid-February, news agency Interfax said on Wednesday. Following on from the terrific demonstration last saturday, there was a large attendance at an organising of the Mid-West Anti-War Group MAMA. A decision was made to organise and support a number of important anti-war events over the coming 3 weeks. Buses are being organised to Dublin for Feb. 15th and street stalls will be held in the intervening period. On going support for the Shannon Peace camp was discussed as well as involvement in the various activities being organised around the camp. It was decided to organise a public meeting in Limerick next week to try and facilitate those from the mid-west who want to get involved in the anti-war campaign. The meeting will take place in Halle Ide, Thomas Street, at 7.30pm on Wednesday next January 29th. A fund raising table quiz will be held in the white house next monday night at 8pm. Three labour party councillors were absent some with excuse; a Fine Gael councillor broke with his party whip and voted for the increase. On Saturday February 1st a 24 hour vigil is planned in defense of the 90 or so trees in Eyre Square. The vigil is part of a campaign launched on 14th January to save the trees.
