One month ago, War Resisters' International put out a call for nonviolent action at military bases on 5/6 April 2003. In many countries groups are planning actions - in Britain, from where the idea originates, actions are planned at 11 military bases (see http://www.reclaimthebases.org.uk for details). Actions will also happen at the Spinelli barracks in Mannheim, Germany, at some military base in Turkey, at a base in Japan, and probably at many other places. Please let us know soon what you are planning. It is important that the WRI office knows, and can provide an overview on actions on that weekend from all over the world. The call is availabe at http://www.wri-irg.org/news/2003/reclaim.htm ... read full story / add a comment

About forty people picketed Bertie's constituency office ,St Luke's last night; that's about twice the number of the last protest held there two weeks ago. Bertie wasn't in unfortunately -or if he was he showed no inlination of coming out.The only person to emerge scurried quickly away up Drumcondra hill .Somebody told me it might have been Royston Brady. The picket- called by the drumcondra anti war group and supported by the newly formed St pats college against the war- was very lively and got lots of hoots from passing motorists. Drumcondra and st pats groups are planning to hold a joint public meeting early in April. We should have a venue sorted out by next week. Should anyone in the college be interested in getting involved please get in touch on: 087 6988540. ... read full story / add a comment
