I see from the RTE “news” that the Iraqi Special Olympics team has had to withdraw from the forthcoming games. Such a decision has to be welcomed given the understandable security considerations; some of the individuals accompanying the team could be agents of the Saddam Hussein regime with terrorist activity on their minds. I know our government and security forces will be on constant alert in order to ensure the safety of all citizens and foreign residents. In these difficult and stressful times, we can be proud that our country is standing by the forces of freedom and democracy, and supporting leaders of courage and determination like President Bush and Prime Minister Blair. ... read full story / add a comment
