Terrorist Threat

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday April 01, 2003 23:48author by Redmond O'Laoire Report this post to the editors

I see from the RTE “news” that the Iraqi Special Olympics team has had to withdraw from the forthcoming games. Such a decision has to be welcomed given the understandable security considerations; some of the individuals accompanying the team could be agents of the Saddam Hussein regime with terrorist activity on their minds. Given the positive role our country has and continues to play in “Operation Iraqi Freedom”, such a terrorist threat has to be taken serious. I know our government and security forces will be on constant alert in order to ensure the safety of all citizens and foreign residents. In these difficult and stressful times, we can be proud that our country is standing by the forces of freedom and democracy, and supporting leaders of courage and determination like President Bush and Prime Minister Blair.

The local Loyalists had taken to putting serious threats on the signs welcoming the athletes. They said it was "inappropriate" to have signs saying "Larne welcomes Iraq" around the town.

Trimble can take a bow for pulling their strings with his vote for war in Westminster.

Cowardly pricks to threaten special children! Nice to know the likes of them are off in Iraq kicking in doors and vandalising the infrastructure.

You're wrong and misinformed there, Larne is a predominantly BNP, combat 18 town, hence the ignorant stance, it is not loyalist. Many mainland english/scottish neo nazis have settled in Larne, it being their first stop in northern ireland. These people spread their backward, ignorant, and malicious lies in Larne, hence the threats against disabled iraqi children and the ongoing vicious intimidation and harrassment of the minority catholic population. A very witty and imaginative retortion to Redmonds typical bland inflamitary posting was deleted why? Is it because it made Redmond look like a dickhead. Loyalists would have made the disabled iraqi children feel welcomed and appreciated. We are not a backward and intolerant culture. Those in Larne who give us all a bad name through their ignorance, inhospitality and lack of christian compassion will be dealt with soon.

Disabled athletes have taste, standards and common sense, why would they want to go to Larne?, it's even worse than bagdad. Our own catholic able bodied population wouldn't want to be in larne, if they had a choice. I think it is an insult to place Disabled tourists in Larne anyway, it is not reknowned for its hospitality or tourist friendly outlook.

We can't stand our own white disabled people, nevermind brown ones. Disabled people are an afront to our abled bodied aryan youth. They are imperfect misfits and should be put down at birth. God did not intend for disabled people to live on this earth, they are a waste of our precious resources and time.

Look what happened to paedophile pimp Roy green, Johnny Adair, coco, gina and company. Combat 18/BNP sex offending nazi filth give loyalists a bad name wherever they settle.

the nazis arent that strong in larne. 99% of the anti catholic attacks would come from the uda & uvf.

its worth noting though that the DUP mayor of larne said that as far as he was concerned the iraqis were still welcome
