Dozens of people joined éirígí's latest protest against the proposed state visit by the British Head of State, Elizabeth Windsor. Up to seventy people yesterday [March 12] braved the bitter cold to join a protest in Dublin against the planned state visit by the British Head of State, Elizabeth Windsor, which is due to take place in May. The éirígí-organised demonstration took place outside of the British Embassy on Merrion Road in Dublin 4. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5Fair play to all who turned out on saturday. Never mind the begrudgers and the gobshites. Your protest was a success because it demonstrated that not everyone in Ireland is onboard the RTE sponsored British Royal love-in.
If 70 people are willing to give up a saturday afternoon in the freezing cold to stand outside an empty embassy in D4 you can be damn sure that there will be many times that number on hand to give windsor a warm welcome.
Thanks for the photos. It is heartening to see so many turn out. I was unable to go but I will be sure to be there when IT visits so you can definitely count on me then. There will be many more then too. Congrats.
I am afraid there is little chance of widespread protest against a visit from the Windsor(Sachs Coburg) elite. I think there is a healthy apathy and disinterest. As regards Brits out of Ireland, I thought we had an agreement, flawed albeit. What are the plans? To deport all those who came here post 1172. I think I may have to go.
Let her come!
but only if she pays for her expensive little 8 million euro luxury holiday in the colonies herself and doesn't foist it on the unfortunate Irish taxpayer
Does she think we are all born rich like her?
It's a recession for fucks sake.
These parasitical blood sucking upper class english inbred fuckers have no sensitivity to the lot of the common man whatsoever.
I am an Australian living in Dublin. i don't have any Irish heritage and i am not an Irish republican.
HOWEVER - the very institution of monarchy is stupid and archaic.
Imagine - by sheer dumb luck you get born into a particular family and you are therefore rich and privileged and powerful (yes it's reduced but they're stil more powerful than your average worker)!! And all paid for by ordinary people.
For that reason alone the tour should be opposed and more, the monarchy should go.
So i guess i am a republican :)
